DJI Terra and DJI Flighthub 2 Latest Features
Fly With Cloud Intelligence
By Baden Coates 02/10/2025
The latest updates to DJI FH2 and Terra have introduced exciting and useful features that enable enhanced deliverables and automation. In this article, we will first introduce the new Terra Gaussian Splat feature before diving into the new Flighthub 2 features available now!
DJI Terra V5.0
DJI Terra recently released version 5.0.0 (now up to V5.0.2 as of 11/09/25) on the 17th of July, 2025 to great acclaim and fanfare. Along with the usual improvements and optimisations made in the background, the most significant new feature is the ability to generate 3D Gaussian Splats (3DGS) from imagery.
You can think of Gaussian Splats as enhanced point clouds, but with mesh-like qualities such as highly detailed modelling and enhanced accuracy. 3DGS models are generally used for their detailed visuals and enhanced realism, especially around windows and reflective surfaces. 3DGS also perform well by imitating lighting conditions when viewing the model, helping to enhance the realism and making the models appear more lifelike.
Along with the Gaussian Splat features, the Terra pricing and update structure has also changed. There are now two versions of Terra available (in both online and offline formats):
DJI Terra Standard (Previously Terra Pro)
DJI Terra Flagship (Previously Terra Electricity)
Equipped with the 3D Gaussian Splatting functionality
Not only that, but DJI has announced that there will no longer be an upgrade or maintenance fee to update to the latest version of Terra, so users who have purchased perpetual licenses no longer need to purchase an upgrade license to be able to utilize the latest version of Terra.

DJI Flighthub 2
Key points:
Intelligent dashboard
Virtual Cockpit v2.0
Intelligent onboard recognition & Multimodal AI
AEC features
With over 400,000 hours of operations and 2 million missions completed, DJI Flighthub 2 continues to push the boundaries and help to enable and enhance remote operations around the world.
FH2 is not just a DJI Dock control platform, but a tool for sharing, managing and automating capture. Serving industries from Security to Surveying, FH2 is a one-stop cloud-based platform for drone operations management.
Always improving, Flighthub 2 has recently been updated with new features to enhance the user experience, as well as enable even more cloud intelligence features.
Intelligent dashboard
New features include an intelligent dashboard display. Giving the user insights on flight statistics and operations. Greatly enhancing usability in security operations, as well as providing an overview of operational statistics. These features ensure multi-dock users have enhanced oversight of their operations at a glance.
Virtual Cockpit v2.0
The virtual cockpit view has now been updated to version 2.0, with a simpler and easier to understand interface. Built for multi-dock use, it is now easier and faster to switch between the control of different aircraft. With features already built in such as fly-to and closest aircraft suggestions, FH2 is enabling faster, smarter response times whilst ensuring flight safety with features like airport detection and geofencing. “One-click return all” and “one-click emergency stop all” further enhance the safety of multi-drone operations, catering to advanced users and emergency situations.
Multimodal AI: Live
With new multi-modal AI searching features, a whole new world of detection capabilities has been opened. Although not as accurate or feature-rich as the built-in AI functions of the Matrice 4 and M400 series drones, multi-modal AI enables users to detect use case-specific items from the visible-light sensor.
Multimodal AI: Media
Along with live detection, the latest release of FH2 also enhances file management with AI file searching. This revolutionises media management. Search through photos and videos within folders, utilising multimodal AI searching to quickly find the media that you need. Search targets will also be highlighted in the media.
Intelligent onboard algorithm
On top of this, FH2 has also fully integrated with the onboard intelligent recognition functions of the Matrice 4 series. This includes detection of vehicles, people and boats utilising visible light and infrared models. Allowing for AI detection of people using only the thermal view. This enables better night detection and identification for emergency services and search and rescue, as well as opening the door to more custom AI algorithms potentially being integrated.
AEC features
In case you missed it, recent updates also brought new features for the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry with new features designed for analysis, capture and reporting, along with FH2’s ability to automate.
The AEC update brought key features such as Design File Importing of both DXF and PDF files, allowing users to automatically and/or manually overlay design files onto their models. This feature is paired with the new Analyser tool, that allows users to measure directly on models to calculate everything from horizontal distances/slope to stockpile volumes. Combine these features with the DJI Dock, and automated and regular reports can be generated on schedule. These reports can automate stockpile volume calculations and reporting, whilst generating a new model anywhere from daily to monthly, reducing->eliminating the need for someone on-site for measurement (depending on your local regulations). Fully automate operations by utilising the “Automated Workflow” tab.
Along with these features, DJI Flighthub 2 has now introduced GCP marking, to help improve the replicability and precision of your models. This can help to enhance both the accuracy and precision of models, and validate the automated measurements taken with the AEC features.
Lastly, the project timeline feature allows users to quickly and easily view the entire timeline of projects all from FH2. This feature supports wide-angle, zoom and IR images to give a comprehensive view of the project, along with panoramic images, 2D and 3D models. This feature enhances the capabilities of FH2 for project management and decision-making.
Conclusion
This comprehensive update really does bring AI intelligence to the DJI Flighthub 2 platform. From multimodal AI searching both live and for media, to advanced AEC features, FH2 has become the one-stop platform for drone operations management.
